Design System

A customer portal built for real-world complexity.

The new customer portal for oekostrom was designed to go beyond basic utility functions. Rather than offering a transactional interface, the goal was to create a meaningful digital experience that reflects the company’s commitment to transparency, user empowerment and sustainable energy use. The portal is built to serve a wide range of customer needs, from private households to power producers and large-scale consumers.

Scalable UX for diverse customer needs

The user experience was designed to address the varying requirements of oekostrom’s customer base. From single-meter households to prosumers and multi-site corporate accounts, the portal supports complex user scenarios within a consistent interface. Key journeys were mapped and validated in close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure intuitive navigation, accessibility and efficient task completion.

Modular design system for custom interactions

A flexible design system was developed to accommodate a wide range of tools and widgets. This system enables the interface to adapt dynamically to individual user needs without compromising visual or functional coherence. Features like consumption forecasts, transparent billing and a seamless relocation service are presented in a clean and consistent UI, accessible across all devices.

Co-creation through research and strategy workshops

The portal was shaped through a structured discovery phase, including qualitative user research and cross-functional workshops. Personas and use cases were developed based on existing customer data and interviews. This approach allowed the team to define clear priorities, reduce complexity and create a digital product that offers real value and long-term relevance.
